DISCOVERY- Chopin's 4th Sonata in F Minor
on: March 24, 2007, 02:43:31 AM
BREAKING NEWS:

The complete manuscript of a FOURTH Chopin Piano Sonata (in F minor) was allegedly discovered in a leather portfolio mid-week in a Paris apartment! It appears that the owner of the apartment was the descendant of a pupil of Chopin.

According to my source, the Sonata is in four movements:

1. Allegro Assai
2. Scherzo Allegro Vivace
3. Larghetto
4. Presto

This news will spread like wildfire through online communities, and we can expect major news companies to pick up on it soon.

This will likely spark one of the greatest publishing events of the new millennium.

Stay tuned!

I am also having difficulty finding citation on this allegation.

If it is true though, I can only imagine the pianistic bloodbath that will ensue over who gets to premiere it.

Jake, are you s******g us?  >:(

Methinks da Jake is a musicologist who knows someone who knows someone. OR he is in fact s******g us. The scheme of the movements and their headings seem correct, the f minor Concerto has a "Larghetto" slow mvt. and Sonatas 2 and 3 both end with a "Presto". We shall see...

If this is true, Zimmerman should get the honor, imo.

Is this a premature April's fools joke?  8)

Anyway if this is true I think chances are greater that it is an early work that Chopin didn't see fit to be published.

Jake, if this was true(which I believe you), it will definately be a huge development in the intricate history of Fredryk Chopin's music.  :)

BREAKING NEWS

A new piece by Schumann has been discovered in a public toilet in Munich.

On examination, it was found to have some interesting themes.

There was a new Mozart piece discovered last year, only a 2minute something.  Forget what it was exaclty, but i was an early work, performed at the Salzburg festival.

A piece of sh*t.

Likely more interesting than most of Schumann's other work.

It is an unsigned work that bears the title Allegro di Wolfgango Mozart and is believed to have been composed when he was but 6-10 years old.  It was premiered last year by harpsichordist Florian Birsak.

Is this mere coincidence that this work was discovered the year of Mozart's 250th birthday?
