wild jagd it is with dnephi.  wild hunt - piano street lingo.  just printing it out. hope the black printer cartridge doesn't mess up.  looks like another piece of church music for rondes les sylphes.

Funnily enough, I've played it, just not in church.  ;)

I challenge someone for a Wilde Jagd Duel, August 13th.

Anyone want to take me up on it?  Give me a PM and we'll talk.

Dan

I can do EET 8.  August 13 sounds fine.

Gotcha. Rach sonata no 1 complete by Nov.1st?

yo lets do something else bra!

i know u posted the first 2 mvts here smoewhere, and i on dasdc in tha SHAGA masterclass, so if you really want we could analyze the 1st 2 mvts (although yours was much more polished/coherent/true than mine was 8))

buti really dont think im up to relearning all 60 pages again 8)

but these duels are great motivation for learning pieces and learning from others

Okay :) Do you have a suggestion? To me it would need to be something completely new (but maybe with a generous deadline like dec. 31st because I am very busy with "Styx. A long Journey" mainly, over the next few months), something deep, existential, not well-known, virtuoso and not very long. :P  Yes I get quite pretentious, sorry :P The reason is that I still have to fight with dystonia (though it got better) and can only do very few, important things.

Challenge him to the 1838 version as it is better.

Thal
@ Pianistimo:  That's not quite it, and besides, the title "Wilde Jagd" works best on the 1838 with its greater emphasis on the demonic tritone interval.

@Thalbergmad: It has some better aspects, but the texture comes out better in the lyrical section at least in the 1851 version.  I might mix in some material from the 1838 when I play it.  Besides, the 1851 is in complete sonata form.  Isn't it great?
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

...well...I recorded this Bach last December...upon hearing it, I changed the way I played the Prelude straight away. And now, (I think) I played it differently again...which I plan to re-record sometime next month.

...I could put up the December one if you don't mind - otherwise it'll have to be lo-fi. Let me know which one u prefer ^^

Beautiful piece, have played through it and taught it. I will need the score though, I gave my Dover book to a Clementi fan.

I do the popular music of 40 to 90 years ago. Which is nowadays not so popular, so...

How about August 19th or 20th, including the slow movement? I have an American music recital on July 29th, so that material must take priority. All I need is the score.  :)

I challenge Jonathan Powell to his choice of (because I don't know his rep and I can only assume he plays at least 1 of these):

Jean Barraque- Sonate
Michael Finnissy- all.fall.down.
Clarence Barlow- Ludus Ragalus
Pascal Dusapin- Preludes (2006)
Giacinto Scelsi- Action Music (if this is chosen, must be video for comedic purposes)
Bernd Aloys Zimmermann- Extemporale

Jonathan Powell is away at the moment and, whilst I do not , of course, seek to speak on his behalf in response to your challenge, I am fairly certain that (a) he doesn't have any of the above pieces in his repertoire and (b) he is well capable of setting himself whatever "challenges" he likes...
