Favorite Fauré Nocturne?
on: April 03, 2007, 04:33:03 PM
I'm surprised Fauré doesn't get mentioned more often- his music is wonderful stuff. I wonder if many people here will be interested in this poll....

I'll let you choose one favorite and a runner-up.

no 4.  not sure about my favorite runner up because i haven't listened to all of them.  there's something pendulumish about #4.  it reminds me of being in a hammock and looking up at the sky without a care in the world.

Most acknowledge the No. 6 in D flat as probably the best of the Nocturnes as well as one of Faure's greatest acheivements.  That's the one I play.  It's an extraordinary piece!

Most acknowledge No.6 as the best? Hmm, I didn't know that.

Actually, for me, Nos. 1 and 13 are the best.

Op. 119 is an incredible work, straddling the 19th and 20th centuries perfectly. One of the greatest piano pieces ever written.

When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists
