Renting a piano?
on: March 06, 2004, 07:06:18 AM
My piano has one foot in the grave and I was thinking about getting a newer one. My problem is that I'm not sure what would be a good replacement... yamaha, kawai, and all of the others I can't think of? My local piano shop has rentals of various brands. I'm only interested in an upright and I by no means can afford a top name! This sounds good to me since it's like test driving before I buy! What are some names and models I should ask about? Keep in mind that I can't pay more than 5k for the piano and I'm not a piano teacher or a professional musician.                                             Thanks for your help!! :) :) :)                                  Mark

Since no one else replied, I'll take a stab.

Assuming a 5K USD budget fora new piano, without knowing your particular tonal preference, I'd say Kawai K-series as a safe bet. Shoot for K-50 if you can, drop back to K-30 or K-25 if you cannot get a K-50 in your budget.
