How many of you know that Thalberg and Thalbergmad are two different persons?

Yes I was aware of that
No I thought they were the same person
I was vaguely aware in the sense that I felt confused whenever I saw one of those names but didn't know why

I don't care what other people do or say, thalberg, you'll ALWAYS be "blintz" to me.  And that's my final word.

Thalberg is a pianist.

Thalbergmad is a scorecollectionologist.
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

it's not true.  thalberg is too nice to be thal.  besides, he's much taller and thinner.  he never goes to st. kilda because he lives in montana or someplace like that.   thalberg, however, doesn't know how to scan music.  but, he pedals the piano much better than thal due to his large feet.  thalbergmad is the one that lives in england and enjoys the countryside on his bike.  he, however, does not have a modern juicer.  the kind you put an entire grapefruit in - and push down -and voila - out comes a nice glass of grapefruit juice.  on the other hand - thalbergmad does not obsess over steinwayB versus mason and hamilin.  also, he does not favor laquered hammers.

i believe thalberg teaches at a college.  thal works at a factory - churning out who knows what.  his boss gets extravagant presents for valentines day.  thalberg wisely spends his money on new furniture.  although - i do not know if he saves.  i don't think so - because he likes to buy quality.  therefore he is rich and poor at the same time.  thal - being poor - goes on extravagant vacations because he does not care if the grass is nutritionally deprived.

alistair, i thought you disappeared and i missed your funny comments.  so you have both a steinway B AND a mason and hamelin.  wow.  i have a kawaii (as yo probably know) with a cracked soundboard.  just looking for the right epoxy.  to me - the sound was very good.  now with only the black keys in tune (due to carefulness of the tuner not to wreck it more) - i am unsatisfied.  it's like not getting what you want.

i am aware that Jesus saves, alistair.  in fact, he saves a bunch.  and, alternately - i don't think he counts pence since He owns the whole world.  i suppose there is noone richer.

Well, I admit I did ask for that! Well, not literally, but figuratively speaking, of course. I remain slighly worried about anyone owning the whole world, however; Rupert Murdoch, Bill Gates and Sir Terry Leahy (he of Tesco in UK) are already getting close enough to such a possibility (The Sorabji Archive is currently lagging somewhat behind all three of these fellows, probably due to lack of sufficient glabal ownership motivation on the part of its curator, or "president", as you say in US).

Jesus saves a bunch only. Ah well - I never expected to be a part of that exclusive bunch, so that's OK, I guess - and my continued outsidership will "save" Him some work, too, so I guess that's a bonus for Him.

Now, please try to control your usual desires and refrain from answering that, Susan, otherwise the thread topic will end up going totally off Thalbergs both sane and mad!

Since he includes the phrase "I am going to burn in the fires of hell, for i am a non-believer" at the end of all his postings, I think that we could safely guess that the answer to that question might be in the negative...

Touché! That said, might one assume that, given Thal's own observation that he is "going to burn in the fires of hell, for (he is) a non-believer", the position from which he does this is - er - offside? And, for that matter, if Jesus saves, is Susan the referee? Mind you, if the entire team goes the way of Leeds United, this might all turn out to be merely academic...

I am sure they are.

Switzerland are only famous for 3 things:

1. Cuckoo clocks
2. Cheese with holes in
3. Cow bells

I think you mean "Switzerland is", rather than "Switzerland are", but what's more important is that you didn't mention those banks for which Switzerland is surely even more famous (it's also somewhat infamous these days for resisting EC membership, though how much longer it will be able to sustain that is open to question)...

despite thalbergmad's one-sided view of switzerland - i imagine he could make the football team of leeds united look a lot better if he joined.  the thing is - i never watch sports and couldn't referee if my life depended on it.  my husband insists on going to this restaurant called 'champs' with 7-10 big flat screen tvs pointed in every direction and 'score card' printed on the front of the drinks menu.  perhaps it is my inability to do several things at the same time - but i find that having several tvs on different channels completely spaces me out.  eat a bite - look at channel A - turn completely around and look at channel B  - look up at channel C.   this is a ploy to keep men from paying attention to their women.

i can only hope that thalberg will stay sane enough to keep away from sports and pray for guidance when it comes to 'how much down-time a man needs in his life.'  between sports and the latest sci-fi novels - i have a half-marriage.  basically - the flag waving has to be done right after the shower.  otherwise it is fairly hopeless.  of course, age may have something to do with about 99% of his problems.  (not thalbergs - but my husbands).

this morning i shocked him out of it by threatening again to use his accrued airline mileage on a trip to london.  he tells me i can't leave him now.  not in this 'state.'  ok.  so now - he pays attention to me!?  whereas - last night - what was he doing last night?  probably reading the other half of the sci-fi novel.  of course, i was sorta busy too.  forget what i was doing.  probably something.  i think i was watching 'animal rescue.'

doesn't switzerland have some pretty good bobsledders? if you haven't seen john candy in 'cool runnings' - go and rent the video.  it's hilarious.

Whatever sort of restaurant is that? I always go to restaurants to pay attention to the food and the wine (and the company, of course), but not television screens.

between sports and the latest sci-fi novels - i have a half-marriage.
Do you suppose that your husband might similarly say that, between Pianostreet and piano practice, he only has the other half?

basically - the flag waving has to be done right after the shower.  otherwise it is fairly hopeless.  of course, age may have something to do with about 99% of his problems.  (not thalbergs - but my husbands).
What you two (presumably) consenting adults do "right after the shower" is up to you, of course, but when you say that "age may have something to do with about 99% of his problems", are you suggesting that your husband is 99 times as old as you'd like him to be?

this morning i shocked him out of it by threatening again to use his accrued mileage on a trip to london.  he tells me i can't leave him now.  not in this 'state.'  ok.  so now - he pays attention to me!?
So, are you coming to London next month or not?

whereas - last night - what was he doing last night?  probably reading the other half of the sci-fi novel.  of course, i was sorta busy too.  forget what i was doing.  probably something.  i think i was watching 'animal rescue.'
Or on Pianostreet. It seems from what you write here that even rescuing your husband appears to be somewhat beyond you...

ok.  slight pangs of guilt are now setting in.  after all - over the weekend he did install a new towel rack in the bathroom and matching toilet paper roll holder.  usually we are not as elaborate as to match both precisely.  and, it is not the flimsy kind - but the 'drop lock' so the roll does not roll-away mid use.

as i see it - rescuing someone can only happen if they allow themselves to be rescued.  there are times when my hsuband refuses to be rescued.  and, i suppose the same for myself.  we are both caught up in our 'ideal world' sometimes -and fair being fair - pianostreet is my dream piano world.

and, yes - i would like to come to london.  of course, now i have this passport dillema all over again.  sometimes perhaps it is my age that causing problems, too.  i have a hard time planning for things.  for instance - i might get th epassport and tickets - but forget to pack correctly or get to the airport on time.  i never used to have these problems.
