Books and free-shipping
on: May 13, 2007, 04:39:12 AM
Any of you know an Online Bookshop which ship internationally for free?
I know there are DVD shops that do that (DvdBoxOffice) and also other shops of videogames, beauty products, sport supplements and so on.

I think there must be something like that for books too, I really hope so.
I always spend more for the shipping than the books :(

If there is one, I have never found it.

I recently bought a book from an American Dealer.

£20 for the book and £20 for shipping.

I know how you feel.

do you at least get a better rate with book clubs?  i don't know - as i haven't joined one yet.  if you buy enough books - then maybe they discount the shipping?  perhaps it is just buying one book at a time that kills people.  although, i'm not suggesting this by any means.  our whole basement is full of books.

Don't amazon only ship free if it's domestic? I may be making that up though, check it! But there is a minimum order value and your entire order has to come in the same parcel - or at least, every parcel needed to make up the order has to be more than the minimum order value - so if you order two books, one's not in stock, both individually cost less than the minimum to qualify for free postage, then you have to wait until they're both in stock for dispatch in a single parcel. Otherwise, you can have two parcels but you will be charged two lots of postage even though your total order value was more than the minimum.

eBay has some seller that will ship for free depending on where it's going.
Some are crooks - I bought an item, was $7, $8 to ship.  The same seller had the same item, $1, $14 to ship!
