I've no idea what an acoustic one will cost, but I'm sure that being non velocity dependent you can get a much more accurate digital harpsichord emulation than piano, for a decent price (you'd probably be best of getting a midi controller and external hardware or software sounds).

Here's a digital one.  I don't like the fact that it is only single manual though.  Some music may require dual manual playing.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

For a "professional" harpsichord, check here: https://zhi.net/  They range from around $5-6000 used to over $20 000 for large custom-built models.  ;D

That website in the previous post helped reinforce my own impressions.

The expression you use -- just "a harpsichord" -- is not helpful at all.  A modern grand piano is a modern grand piano -- it is fairly simple.  The design is standardized.

Not so with harpsichords.  There are many types and styles of harpsichord.  You need to clarify much better what you are talking about.

if you are in England, check out the Early Music Shop

https://www.e-m-s.com/front/emsframes.html

For £2,000 you can buy an assemble it yourself Harpsichord.

For more than three decades, “A Jazz Piano Christmas” at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. has been a quiet highlight of the holiday season for jazz and piano lovers. No fixed formulas, no “seasonal jazz” clichés — just strong pianistic voices working with familiar material. This year, the live concert is on pause. Here’s what changed, and where pianists can still turn for meaningful jazz piano Christmas listening and playing. Read more
