fee for recordin'?
on: May 29, 2007, 12:45:16 PM
composer asked me to record 2 transcriptions of overtures he wrote.  Together it's about 10-12 pages of music, not terribly hard but since transcriptions lots of notes.  How much would you charge for somethin' like that?  he asked me but I couldn't think of an answer

Hmmmm...  That's a tough one.  How long do you think it would take you to learn it?

$200 pops into my mind.  Knowing nothing about the situation though.  Maybe $100 a piece?

Are they asking you to just perform or do produce a completed recording, like a CD?  That would involve a lot more work and effort on your part.

Most things I've seen are paid by the performance.  I had one person offer to pay me by the hour for everything, including practicing.  :p

I charged $200!  I'm making a CD for the composer of two overtures transcribed for piano.  Will take me 2 weeks to learn both.
