Is multi-tasking good?
on: May 30, 2007, 03:20:28 AM
In terms of quality, benefits vs. time, etc.

Just wondering what your thoughts are.

it's the only way to keep up.  if you can't multi-task - you may as well kill yourself.  that said - i have to do this sort of autistic stuff occasionally.  you know - focus on one thing and rock back and forth.

Not for me. I can only focus on one thing at a time if I'm going to do a good job. I have the exact opposite of ADD, whatever that might be.

And yet I've taken yet another job, now I have four...  :o :-\

Good thing the new one requires hardly any energy or sustained mental focus. And it has bennies!  :D 8)

multi-tasking is marvelous.

well, in high school/college level classes.

I suppose it depends and it's a compromise.

I was wondering because I was eating, surfing the internet, watching tv, and listening to music, all at the same time.  I realized I wasn't really enjoying it and was actually getting a little stressed out by it.  It probably had something to do with fighting the computer though.

I'm all about the laser focus...  Can't get much done when I'm spread thin.

Especially with music, I've stopped using it as background so much.  I numb myself to it when it's always playing in the background and I'm not actually paying attention to it.

There is an article in Scientific American about multi-tasking, I'm not sure which issue.

After pregnancy women greatly surpass men in these abilities, it seems to be a survival advantage.
