Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street
The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more >>

Sheesh , so many of these mega pianists are gay. Anyway  issues on communism religion or culture in war torn nation is usually a touchy subject best avoided. So many people have been shot or killed this way.

best avoided.

It is their very avoidance which brings fruition to the prevalence of ignorance.

As I understand the situation, Hough will not play in Vietnam because his sponsor doesn't give the money. So we see how art is governed by the money world. Really sad...

oh, so he's going to pay for the air tickets and accommodation out of his own pocket, to go somewhere he might be killed?
I somehow doubt that it's just for the money. Anyways, you need money. Would you go to Vietnam and give a recital for no money?

Seems that you didn't quite understand my argueing  ::)

I don't say, that Hough should play in Vietnam, if he don't want to.
I don't say, that Hough should not get money from sponsors.

I say: he does not get the money, because his sponsors don't like Hough's Website.

It seems obvious to me that it's a bare-faced white lie from the sponsor, that they try to protect him from being attacked. I'm curious, if this company will sponsor Hough in the future in any country...  ::)

Sorry, counterpoint! i understand now. I apologise.
Yes, I agree that large organisations in general have an unhealthy disrespect for individuals.

That's another question.

If Hough could decide freely, if he wants to play there or not - that would have been the best solution. But he was not even asked what he wants to do, if I understand the article the right way.

I think Hough believes (rightly) that the Vietnamese authorities' handling of the situation is not entirely rational. It's a real shame that a country that is seeking closer ties to the West would take a step in the wrong direction with such seemingly ill-founded and discriminatory policies.

suggesting that a government's fear of gays would be a step in the wrong direction for diplomacy is silly, I can't remember the US ever publicly denouncing another country based on sexuality issues- and the US already does business with countries with much worse violations of human rights

So you expect him to perform for no pay??. Would you work for no wages??
