for all U.S. citizens...
on: June 03, 2007, 03:03:52 PM
www.ronpaul2008.com

This guy is awesome. He's running for president (or at least nomination in a major party). He is anti-war and anti huge government spending and anti taxes (income taxes anyway). basically anti everything that could eventually cause our country to collapse. Please support him! He's our only hope (Sort of like Obi Wan Kenobi)  :)

anti-taxes?  well, that should get him elected.  but, haven't we heard that before.  no new taxes.  he can't be president without some money behind his name.  i don't think we can afford to do away with taxes altogther.  that would be a pipe dream.  in fact, that would cause our country to collapse faster and we would not win anything against the terrorists.  it costs money to find and root them out.  but, of course, if we were to trust God and come back to our own country to regroup - it might be the thing to do at this point.

as i see it - national elections are a farce now.  our money is useless.  we have no gold standard.   but, as george washington got through valley forge - we are given inspiration to be inventive and ingenious in our methods of peace and war.  basically, our government was supposed to be 'by the people and for the people.'  now, it is 'highest bidder.'

your next president is either God or a gun.  some say God and a gun.  that's what the early americans did.  just armed themselves and shot anyone who got close enough to cause damage.  the things is - we no longer know who is friend or foe.  that's the disturbing part.  i don't believe that detaining people in guantanamo is really helping - but hey, they simply torture and kill americans.  perhaps we need to regroup and pray.

A Canadian's perspective:

Ron Paul's foreign policy notions seem to be an embarrassed mishmash of 1920s isolationism and a complete misunderstanding of the nature of the present conflict.  He committed political suicide in the debates and was ultimately demolished by Giuliani.  He is last in the polls for the Republican nomination. His appearance on Bill Maher(!) to bash Giuliani served only to further alienate him from his Republican constituency. He has NO chance.

Pretty much ditto to Jake...

This guy comes across as very bitter about modern politics, like he's got it all right, and like we've got it all wrong.  He just looks to to average american like Mr. High and Mighty... not somebody they like to vote for.
I'm an optimist... but I don't think it's helping...

I loved him at first term, I really did. Since then I've come to realize a lot of things he's been doing that I don't approve of.  We need someone new in office to get things done.

I like Kucinich, but same with Ron Paul, he can not win.  Kucinich is really the only person who I think would actually try to get anything major done AFTER s/he got elected; he is obviously the candidate who has the least financial stake in the war, and he has been fairly outspoken and done some radical things in opposition to all of this (including the little-covered attempt to impeach Cheney).  I heard today that Bloomberg is going to enter the race; he might be someone to watch out for, although he is apparently going to be in an alt party like Ross Perot, so he also can probably not win.  I think it's gonna be either Clinton/Giuliani or Clinton/McCain, and both of those two Republicans can possibly trump Bush in their seemingly inate form of "patriotism" Bush has.  If a Republican wins, be prepared to stay the course :P  Actually, if Clinton wins (which I assume she will), you can pretty much count on that anyway.

I like Bush, and I can't believe how vicious the leftist controlled midia can be. Everybody can make mistakes, we're humans.

I'm really anxious to see what kind of direction America will take in the next  four years-
I believe Bush is doing his best to establish order, but that might be disturbed.

Left-controlled media???  What about Fox News and the BBC?  Even THEY have turned coat against Bush.

I hope Obama wins, from all people that have a chance. Seems he can refresh the conservative old boys US politics a little.

Of course I favour the most leftist progressive libertarian candidate there is.
