Carillon
on: June 16, 2007, 03:45:28 AM
Anybody know about Carillon bells? Anybody have experience playing them? How they work and generally how they are played compared to the piano? I'm signed up for a carillon class at BYU on a whim and I'm curious now as to what I've gotten myself into

They look kind of cool from what I've seen.
Played with the fists I think.
They can also have a computer generate the bells.
The players I've seen memorized their music or had really simple pieces.
Since it's a clock and bell tower, the ones I've seen/heard have a big history and tradition associated with them. So, it's considered a big honor to play one.
I think there was an article in Clavier a year or two ago about them.
