my 6 year old student is in his 2nd year of piano lessons and he is having problems playing the LH triad of D+ in solid form due to his small hands and ability to reach very far between keys. I can't really explain it without you seeing him play, but hopefully, you can understand what I'm trying to describe. No problem with playing RH solid, but with his LH hand, he seems very awkward with his hand position and he wants to stand up and play because it seems to make him feel he can "reach the 3 notes together, better". He can't use the proper fingering but needs to use 1-2-4 on some of the inversions (he changes his fingering each lesson). He dislikes practicing it of course because of how uncomfortable it is for him to play. I'm not sure how to help him? Your ideas?
