collecting piano books
on: June 20, 2007, 06:28:40 AM
I would like to collect piano and other music books to send to a music school with extremely limited music library in a country with a very small number of music publications available for purchase. Does anybody have any suggestions how can I get the best results? ???

Try writing some publishers.  Sometimes they'll donate materials to schools.  You may need school letterhead (or something of that sort) to prove that it's not just for you to keep for yourself.
When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.

keep checking ebay. I've seen huge piles of music from retiring music teachers or music stores closing that sell for hardly anything.

Another idea would be estate sales, or large rummage sales.

I purchased a pile containing much sheet music and some books -- the entire pile was $1.   I am talking here about 25 separate items!

You have to be lucky.  I have seen estate sales where they price each individual item of sheet music at a minimum of several dollars!    (Ridiculous!)

You just have to get lucky, and be at the right place at the right time.
