need big hands?

OK this isn't a real important question, but I was recently looking at schumann tocatta op. 7, and i just have to ask if you need big hands to play this piece??

just wondering  ::)

Haha, well I'm not familiar with the piece, but looking at your user name, you're a guy- and you probably have larger hands than I do!  I've never encountered a piece that I couldn't play- and I have teeeeeeeny hands!  I can easily play pieces with 13 or 14 note spans- you might have to sacrifice the chords and play them rolled or broken up- just move those hands and fingers fast!  :)

it moves fast and relentlessly so i think there's not enough time! but may be the only way short of leaving notes out or growing.

wasn;t it schumann who invented a machine to stretch out his hands and ruined his career as a pianist? you'd think that he would not want to encourage such behavior in future generations... oh well, back to pieces i can play.

yes he is... and no, you don't need big hands - you need a big brain though :)

Hi,
You could use sustain pedal to play large acords, to scan all notes from bass to shrill in very very short time.
My humbly recomendation is like that:)
