Hi everyone,
I'm going to take part in the Richmond Fest. This will be my 1st competition that i've ever been in. Any advice? or tips? opinions?
I'm going to participate in 2 categorys, 1 competitive and 1 non-competitive. For the competitive, I'll be participating in an Open Concert Group which requires 1 Bach Concerto Piece, 1 Classical Sonata and 1 Concert Etude. For the non-competive i'll be participating in a recital class which requires any 3 contrasting works.
Open Concerto Group
Bach- Partita No. 2 in C minor (Sinfonia)
Haydn- Sonata in E flat major HVI Hob/49;L/59 (1st and 3rd movement)
Chopin- Etude in F major Op.10 No.8
Recital Class
Bach- Partita No. 2 in C minor (Sinfonia)
Beethoven- Sonata in A major Op.2 No.2 (1st and 3rd movement)
Rachmaninoff- Prelude in G sharp minor Op.32 No.12
What do all of you think? My teacher decided on this because she wants to give me a chance to compete with my Chopin Etude and motivate my to learn my New Beethoven Sonata fast and see how well it turns out. Besides that, she will be gone for 6 weeks during the summer hol so i'll have to do this on my own besides my other pieces.
