What do you guys think of this work comparing to other concertos? (Any concerto from any period) What is the best recording of this work?

This is really more of a Rhapsody or a Fantasy than a concerto, be it the orchestral or the solo version.
I found it rewarding to play  (if you get a digital piano, you can add your own orchestral pad to your playing also).  I've played it on both types of piano, acoustic grand and digital w/pad.

Addinsel was pretty much directed to write a piece that mimicked Grieg & Rach's romantic style. I like the thematic material a lot. Some think it's over-the-top with sentimentality.

No help on the best recording, Amazon has at least one CD.

And the poor sod never got a mention on the credits of the film for his superb work.

I love it a lot and will risk the wrath of other members by submitting that Liberace played it wonderfully.

You can find a recording of it on this very good Naxos disk:

https://www.naxos.com/catalogue/item.asp?item_code=8.554323

I would say that some of the other film concertos on that disk, in my opinion, are better than the Warsaw Concerto. For example, the Spellbound Concerto, which makes the innovative use of a theremin. Also the Concerto Macabre, which is my favorite concerto on that disk. In all, the concertos on this disk, including the Warsaw Concerto, are a lot of fun for the listener (when they aren't unbearably cheesy).

What do you guys think of Jean-Yves Thibautet`s recording on Decca?
