In The "Words that aren't the opposite of anything" thread, some contributors les us astray abit by suggesting that some words beginning with the syllable "In" are not opposites of the remainder iof the words, when they are not even supposed to be so "intimacy" and "inland", for example"; prompted by "bench warmer"'s mention of the latter of these, where he wrote
"Some of these responses are Outlandish"
I wrote
"That one reminds me of another subject - that of composer comparatives. Someone who presumably didn't think much of those oft-used ones pronounced as "Beethoveenian" and "Wagneerian" (after all, who are "Beethoveen" and "Wagneer"?) once proposed a few better ones, commencing with "Coplandish". In another thread in this section, you can now amuse yourselves by thinking up some good ones..."
So - off you all go (if so you choose that is). Here's your starter for...
Irish (John Ireland)
British (Benjamin Britten)
Rubbish (Edmund Rubbra)
Harbisonic
Hindemythical
Waltonic
Cartesian
Bushy
(can't think of any more just now - must have abit of a mental Bloch...)
Best,
Alistair
