We never went to the moon?
on: July 28, 2007, 01:04:39 PM
I was just reading this conspiracy theory that says the moon landings were all faked just to show the Russians we were winning the cold war.

It's actually rather convincing.  Stuff like unrealistic lighting in the photos and videos, the fact that the flag was waving and there was no air, unrealistically high success rate of moon landings compared to other space missions....

All conspiracy theories are convincing.

At least when they have a smart, well spoken person proposing only his fictional reality.

Once you have someone objecting to the things the conspiracy theories says it will fall apart very quickly.

Watch 'The Dark Side of the Moon'. But there's tons of stuff. It's funny.

Yeh, it is interesting, but the theory falls to pieces when looked at closely.

If it was a hoax, i think that the Russians would have been the first to start screaming FAKE, but they did not.

I have also no idea where the 800lb of moon rock came from.

Pennsylvania.  Specifically, pianistimo's backyard.  Used to be that big rock right next to her Bible Pagoda.

In fact, the whole thing was staged by pianistimo and shot in her garage.  Hubby was camerman and kids played the astronauts.  She directed.  She even made the costumes herself from old habits thrown out by some local nuns.

She said she wanted to be the "Joyce Hatto of space travel."   (I think that's the quote I read in some issue of "Myth Monthly.")

sorry, thal.  couldn't resist . . .

Not again...

I just finnished this debate on another forum... and it took us like 10 pages :P :P

Suffice it to say that there is no way it was faked, thal is right about the russians, and you also gotta keep in mind that every country would have done it by now: movies aren't that hard to make.

If you wanna show some of the arguments, go ahead, I have yet to see one that holds any water.

Ah yes, she used a giant space hopper and covered it in ashes to simulate the moon surface.

The lander was made out of the inside of a bog roll, 2 egg boxes and some silver coated baking paper.

Just thinking how she faked a 360 foot rocket with 2 million pounds of thrust.

One argument is that there were lethal radiation levels in space that would have killed humans.   How do they respond to that?

We've got a space station up there, and so did the Russians.

Guys have been doing "walks" outside their crafts for a very long time, wearing basically the same stuff.

There is another rather convincing conspiracy theory that the Goldberg Variations were never actually written....  In fact every performance and recording of the "Goldberg Variations" is actually an improvisation.  It is only mere coincidence that they all sound so similar.  The sheet music too, is simply a written out transcription of one of those improvisation sessions.

Mozart also found all of his music in a well.

Well, if they wandered around naked, they probably would have been killed.

i know for a fact that there wouldn't be a park and lake in lancaster, california dedicated to the apollo space craft (and the landing craft is still there!) if it was a hoax.  also, after seeing several shuttles take off - they'd have to go somewhere after they passed the sound barrier.  where?  i'd say somewhere's out in space.  plus, i met a real scientist who planned the lunar module to keep from tipping on it's side when it landed on the moon.

nah, that's pianistimo's daughter's compact mirror that she rigged up in the backyard, aligning it with the Hubble Telescope.  no one's been near the moon.

Funny how every argument she makes is based on person experience.

Actually the conspiracy people don't claim that we have never put a space shuttle in orbit.
