jazzy sounding piano music?
on: November 10, 2007, 11:45:44 AM
not the pure "jazz" in the sense of like say, the style you think of in your head when you picture those old 40's america style jazz. i dont know if im explaining this right. but i mean, piano songs similar to these: they have a jazzy influence to them, but quite a different feel:

(the real jazzy piano part comes in about a minute later)

was wondering if anyone knew any piano music similar to these, (excluding the first one, i cant find sheet music to the ones above) thx>>>

Golliwog's CakeWalk by Claude Debussy sounds pretty jazzy...
Working on:
Beethoven - Waldstein Sonata
Bach - C minor WTC I
Liszt - Liebestraume no. 3
Chopin - etude 25-12

Anything by Gershwin. The 3 Preludes, or pieces from The Gershwin Songbook, which are his own arrangements of some of his best-known songs. There's some other stuff too -- check out the André Watts recording.

Christopher Norton wrote some really nice jazzy stuff. It's mostly aimed at beginners though, although there may be some harder stuff I'm not aware of.

Gershwin-Wild Studies are jazzy and pretty FLIPPING amazing.
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

I also recommend Kapustin -- but really, why not try learning to play jazz? Then you can make anything you want sound "jazzy". Just a suggestion...
