I've heard someone say that John Cage's 4'33'' is his finest composition. And the guy saying this actually meant it as a compliment...

I sure hope "A One Minutes Silence" is not the best song in that rock album...

My music teacher said John Cage played 4'33" at Carnegie Hall and everyone was pretty amazed...apparently he said the noises in the audience was the real music.

this raised one of my other post's question, what is music then? I want to be a composer, and with my lack of compositional talent, i'm probably not going to compose anything worth while, but if i can get away with that......another funny thing is, if we consider this as a proper piece of music, one of my friend's younger sister did her tertiary entrance exam for music with this piece, she got in so much trouble, what's the deal with that?

The versions I've seen didn't have staves or rests. Just three movements marked with times and "TACET".
