So much lovelier, indeed, than some of what seeks to pass for "intelligent, cultured, imaginative and sensitive" material on threads such as this one. That said, there is also another rumour that characterises at least some musicians as having a very necessary sense of humour...

I apologize for my earlier comment.  Leonidas has valuable things to offer and is a lively member of this community, and as my own comment has shown, not everything I come up with is constructive or worthwhile.

My teacher here has now thoroughly, patiently, and clearly explained to me that this logon name is being shared by all the students at the studio who wish to go online for piano things while we are here.  Therefore, my comments sort of reflect on all of us. 

Besides, we have a couple 12 year olds here who are phenomenal.

There are questions, difficult questions and very difficult questions - and then there is the one in your current signature. A tempting way to open an appropriate answer might be "how long do you have?" (except that it's generally thought to be rude to answer a question with another question - and we can't have rudeness on here, now, can we? - oh, no, surely not!), but I think that, were I to try to answer it, I would have to say "I have less than no idea", which might not come across as especially helpful but it would at least be honest.

Can we please get back on topic? As much as I appreciate seeing everyone of leonidas' 'arguments' disproved or rebutted, there is a time and place.

Perhaps the thread was deleted because the starter was sick of being told that he'd got it wrong, he did get told quite a number of times, and I think he got the message after about the first two. I would hazard a guess that he asked Nils to remove it, or someone else did. I am aware that he did look extremely ignorant, and probably was so, but 5 people telling him so at once in a harsh manner probably got a bit much.

You should consider deleting the many threads in the Repertoire board that bash 20th century music, in particular the Stockhausen thread. It may stir up discussion, but it is nonsense really, with all the people senselessly bashing it. It deserves to be deleted just as much as Jake's thread.

I have proposed this in the past, and I will propose it again. Nils, if you are going to delete a thread, can you please notify the forum of the reasons why you deleted them? This is partly so we don't go searching for the topic later in a mad frenzy and so we know not to create such topics again.
