Any Wii players out here?
on: December 08, 2007, 04:57:46 AM
Not a gamer, but Wii has got me hooked  :P  Wondering does anybody else likes to play Wii? And maybe you could review some of the games you play then  ;) We've got a FIFA 2008 soccer game - it's really awesome, with commenator comments and realistic players, and it can be quiet challenging! I think those Wii sport games are really cool, it's amazing how far technology has come. And it's my workout too!  ;D

Wii is totally awesome.  Except I was playing the boxing game one night and coudn't play piano for days after because I was too stiff and tired!  Definitely have to buy my own though...

We recently got a Wii in our common room at our dorm and we haven't been the same since. i can't tell you how many times I've gotten a sore right shoulder from Wii Bowling or Boxing. I've also revived my Gamecube games thanks to the Wii. Wii is basically all we do in our suite at school.

I don't have my own Wii (yet!!), but I tried my brother's out during a family visit (i.e. we all mobbed his house).  The sports games are wonderful, especially when you're playing them with friends or family.

But the best game I tested was definitely the new Zelda game, Twilight Princess.  That game had me absolutely hooked.  I played it for hours straight before I finally tore myself away to spend time with my family (lol).

The Wii is a lot of fun.

I have a Wii. But I'm still on the fence about whether or not I like it. You see, the whole point of game systems is to play games while not having to move. The Wii disrupts the integrity of all game systems by making you move, or even worse, exercise. While I do enjoy taking the stance of Goku when blasting my Kamehameha, I cannot help but question if it is "right" for me, or anyone, to do this. But alas, time will reveal the true purpose of the Wii.

Ah, but see, if you put enough thought and practice into it, you can figure out a way to perform any move on the Wii with the smallest motion possible.  For instance, when you bowl, all you really have to do is flip your wrist.  You don't even have to be standing up!  Same with swinging your sword in Zelda.

With just a little practice, you too can make the Wii once again another unhealthy, sit-motionless-for-hours activity!   ;D

And, if it comes down to it and you have spare change, you can always get the "classic" controller.

Hahah, yeah I overdo it a bit with that too. Lets just say that I make everyone clear the room.

There's a new term on urban dictionary dot com.

Wii-kend.  Meaning a weekend entirely devoted to playing Wii.

Have a good Wii-kend.

I like the fact that every one though the Wii would flop coz the graphics aren't great compared to the PS3 and xbox, but no one thought it would take off coz it's actually fun! to play.

I have tried both Wii and Eye-toy, and I think I prefer eye-toy. Probably because I am better at it, than I am at the Wii.

you've got another one here.... :-p It was my first time buying any sort of video games on my own. I got it just because i wanted to do more exercise. I don't do sports, don't like the gym and lack persistency to run or walk outside... so the Wii sounded like a fantastic idea to me. I got sweaty playing it everyday. love the tennis and boxing! The muscle pain only happens in the first few times you play. All l wanted was some easy and fun exercises and I got it. Thanks to Wii! (sad that they don't pay me for what i just said... )

Oh! There were words about a music related game - you can conduct, play drum, etc. with it, but the game release date has been postponed... i'm disappointed!  :-p

When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists

“Practice makes perfect” is a common mantra for any pianist, but we all know it’s an oversimplification. While practice often leads to improvement, true perfection is elusive. But according to recent research, a robotic exoskeleton hand could help pianists improve their speed of performing difficult pianistic patterns, by overcoming the well-known “ceiling effect”.
