Columbia University Student requested!
on: December 17, 2007, 08:05:00 PM
I'd like to get this dissertation on Schumann's Kreisleriana: https://digitalcommons.libraries.columbia.edu/dissertations/AAI7620863/

but as I am no Columbia student and my parents won't let me borrow their creditcard I can't get this dissertation. If someone can download it for me and send it to me it would be extremely appreciated, and I'll give you anything from my vast collection of music!

Thanks in advance

Its only $37, surely your parents will order it for you if it is for your musical development.

You can download the first 24 pages for nothing.

I was able to download all of it for nothing because my university has access to all of ProQuest. Enjoy.

I now expect a recording. You have no reason to play it badly now.

Hey, retro, could you find me access to Patricia Brady's Doctoral Dissertation on the Rachmaninoff Etudes-Tableaux?  It's cited all the time, and, I've read, is an incredible source, but I can't find it anywhere.
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

Incidentally, was anyone aware that several of the études-tableaux were transcribed for orchestra by Respighi?  I heard a recording of them for the first time yesterday, and found the orchestration rather appropriate and even enhancing on a couple of them (39-9), though unconvincing on others (e.g., 39-6).

THat is correct.  I  am not fond of many of them.

I'm not at school anymore (I'm on vacation), so I can't get anything anymore. Sorry.
