It's not unpleasant, nor is it particulalry original, to be blunt. I hear a lot of Chopin and Liszt--perhaps a dash of Hollywood!

Apart from the midi performance, nice piece. Nice choice of harmonies, but I do not think their elaboration is of a that high level...

Yes. He's writing the second of the set (there are two in the set).

And to the other poster; yes, it is very Chopin-inspired. He meant the etude to be a sort of rethink on Chopin's op. 10 no. 1, but for the left hand and on the black keys.
