Beethoven by Richter.
on: January 21, 2008, 10:01:37 PM
Is there any record or compilation etc (on cd) which contains both Pathétique and Appassionata?  I managed to find one on amazon.com but it seemed to be an obscure expensive one. Help appreciated, thanks =)

Was not the original poster specifically asking for Richter recording?

I just looked at that 'Bedroom Bliss' CD which RCA shamelessly released. It turns out that Previn (whose symphony movements are used) is very upset about its release, which seems a little ironic since he has used his musical standing to sleep with anything that moves...

No I wasnt serious  :P.
And thats the record I found too while browsing amazon and it seems intereresting, but 80 dollars + shipping to sweden is pretty expensive for one CD.
If you would skip the specific sonatas I mentioned, what record by Richter would you recommend? (solo piano)

here´s an interesting link to his (perhaps) complete discography.

personally, my two favorite recordings by him are hindemith´s 1922 suite and mussorgsky´s tableaux. however, i lend both to friends and don´t have the information about the cds here... :P

That set is possibly one of the best introductions to Richter's artistry. The playing is absolutely phenomenal throughout. Great sound quality too. *two thumbs up*
