Testing, testing, 1,2,3! (Bach-Liszt Prelude and Fugue in A Minor)
on: February 05, 2008, 03:26:31 PM
2-1-07
I managed to put together a recording of my Bach Prelude and Fugue, impromptu today, with my fingers freezing cold, without warming up, and without practicing slowly beforehand. We also hadn't used the recording device beforehand, so I kept looking over to make sure it was working.
It's a bit dirty, as am I, living the physics student life I am, but I think that it's an OK recording. I thought I could share with you because you'd likely understand both the situation, and I'd like your feedback.
Thanks, and best wishes,
Daniel
P.S. I make some weird faces/voices, but that's because it was just a test of the system, and not really meant for sharing. The voice at the end, in particular, is an inside joke with my brother, whom you meet in this performance
.
P.P.S. I'd love some feedback, although it'd be nice if you took it with the grain of salt I provided at the top.
P.P.P.S.
Here is the recording

For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert. (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

I think you have a very good start! Be sure to watch rythm's and especially voicing! I think you should also ask yourself 'what kind of interpertation am I looking for? A more virtuosostic approach or more bachish and fugish iterpertation. I advise you (if you have already not) to listen to the orginal Prelude and Fuge for Organ. I suggest a recording by Werner Jacob, and then decide on the approach you wish to take. But, dont listen to me.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll put some good, hard thought in additino to the practicing.

Oddly enough, I've never heard this transcription. Liszt clearly rules at transcribing. You clearly rule at playing. Lol. Good start.

nice playing. I don't care for the pieces, but good solid technique. Good luck with other pieces.
