Chopin Waltz op. 69 nº1 Ab M
on: February 15, 2008, 11:28:35 AM
Hi everybody,

I just started this week working on this Waltz by Chopin. I heard once an Askenazy record, a long time a go. Can you give some advice of some good recordings of this piece? Wich one is the best for you?

You can't go wrong with Lipatti as he is the king of the Chopin Waltzes. (I also have a very old recording of Michelangeli playing this waltz which I like very much.)

I usualy love Rubinstein in Chopin but in his 1960's recording of the waltzes I think he gets this waltz all wrong.

In other words; go for Lipatti (despite the not so great sound quality.)

I have a CD of Chopin's Waltzes and Preludes played by Alfred Cortot who recorded these pieces in Paris in 1942.
I like this album.
This is one of my favorite Chopin's Waltz.
