Pollini
on: April 26, 2004, 12:39:48 AM
I just saw Pollini, and it was AMAZING!!!

He played the Chopin preludes, and then he played the second book of the Debussy preludes.

As an encore he played "La Cathedrale Engloutie", and then as a second encore he played Chopin's Ballade Op.23...

I got an autograph! ;D ;D ;D ;D

anyone else seen Pollini recently? what did he play?

Saw him in London in March, he played Beethoven's Sonatas Op.10 n.1 and Op.13 in the first half, then Chopin's Preludes Op.28. As encores he played Chopin Op.25 n.1, Op.10 n.4 and the first Ballade.
The Beethoven was not always very accurate but was good anyway, and I thought his preludes were fantastic, as were the two etudes he played as encores.... but I found his ballade dreadful, rushed and heavy...
I got his autograph and a picture with him  :P

If he played the Ballade like he did today, it wasn't rushed. If anything it was a bit slow on the whole...
