Species Counterpoint and Harmony
on: February 20, 2008, 12:58:09 AM
Hi everyone,
I am currently preparing lectures for a harmony and counterpoint class to be given this summer. In order to prepare examples, I would like to enlist the help of anyone willing. I need solutions in two and three parts to the following cantus firmi:
C - D - E - G - A - F - E - D - C (this may be transposed to any key/voice - modal solutions are allowed)
C - G - Ab - G - F - G - Eb - D - C (this may be transposed to any key/voice - modal solutions are allowed)
So, your solution should include two or three parts (one of which will be the cantus in whole notes). You may give a solution in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th species...I need examples of all of them.
For harmony, just take a Bach chorale melody and harmonize it in 3 different ways.
Thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to help.

Asked if he had ever conducted any Stockhausen,Sir Thomas Beecham replied, "No, but I once trod in some."
