Easy but good Beethoven

I'm around level 5, I suppose, and would like to play something by Beethoven which isn't too long or difficult - not a sonata movement, e.g. - or tedious or chirpy - not an ecossaise, e.g. I've tried the Op. 119/11 Bagatelle, I can manage half of it but for some reason can't convince myself to learn the latter part. Any suggestions?

Why don't you try the first movement of moonlight sonata? The "hit" haha. Not hard and beautiful music, we have to admit even if we're tired to hear it haha.

Don't try to learn this sonata. I think you should look at some more of the bagatelles, maybe the op. 49 no 1 or 2 sonata.

I have had much more trouble playing op. 2 no. 1 than pieces such as Ravels Sonatine or Mendelssohns Rondo Capriccioso. I really wouldn't recommend that piece to someone grade 5.

What about the rondo in C major Op. 51 No. 1. It is underplayed and is absolutely beautiful - very interesting form too.

Op 33 Bagatelles are tuneful, effective, and not too difficult. And they go well as a group.

Agreed, it's a really difficult piece IMO. I haven't played it, but I have worked on it a little, and the 4th mvt has to be really hard.

What about Allegretto in C minor? It is AMEB grade 6 level, I played it a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

by the looks of it he isn't Aussie. AMEB grade 6 is about ABRSM grade 7 I think, so it would be a challenge.

The Andante favori is a very advanced work - far more difficult than the Rondo Op. 51 No. 1 and almost everything else mentioned in this thread for that matter.   It's nine minutes long and contains some very formidable technical challenges, especially in the latter half (32nd notes, a very long octave passage, etc.).  The first page is quite deceptive....
