I don't see what people complain about comedy becoming either vulgarised (if thats a word) or less sophisticated. If anything (at least in the UK), it's funnier than ever, and I'm sure that's not just my opinion. I mean, 50 years ago a program like QI or HIGNFY wouldn't have got a laugh at all, and my grandparents struggle to see the funny side of scenario-based comedies - that's about half the comedy there is nowadays!
although I do find some of the old stuff very amusing... such as Dudley Moore and the gang, victor borge etc.
