Scriabin Etude Op 8/12 (original version)
on: May 22, 2008, 07:21:17 PM
It seems that Scriabin had written an earlier version of this famous etude but he later revised it to the current known version. Michael Ponti, in his recording of Scriabin's complete piano music (7CDs if I am not mistaken), plays both versions and I must admit that I find  the older one far more interesting.

Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

I believe that this is an alternate version, written after the original.  I prefer it myself.  I believe that the best recording available is by Stephen Beus.

Daniel
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

Dear Daniel

Thank you very much for the information as well as for the pdf file.

This is exactly what I was looking for.
