choosing a 1 piano 4 hands piece
on: May 28, 2008, 10:26:44 AM
hi,

i am looking for an impressive piano duet piece that to be played in a small concert.

the piece should be around 3-6 minutes, and should be at moderate to advanced level.

i am thinking of playing stravinsky's russe danse, but unfortunately i am unable to get the score, and the dvorak slavonic dance op.46 no.8 is what we are preparing now but we prefer some more advanced pieces.

can anyone give us some suggestions?(the score must be easy to obtain as well - we only have one month for preparation!)

thanks!

No.8 is a wonderful piece, but it is one of the easiest.

How about No.5, or No.1? They are more difficult than No.8.

Or one of the Brahms Hungarian Dances, maybe No.4 or 5.

Brahms' arrangement for piano 4 hands of the 3rd movement of his 4th Symphony is great fun to play.

Schubert wrote a lot of wonderful pieces for 1 piano 4 hands. I played them all wit me mum. The Divertissement a la Hongroise was our favorite (not counting the F minor Fantasy, which is too long for your purposes.) The Rondo Brillant is also fun.

Or you could do Bizet's Jeux D'Enfants, which was originally written as a piano duet.

And there's some great Mozart stuff too.

how about the mozart 4 hand sonatas?  they are easier on the technical side, but getting mozart to sound right, can take sometime more skill, lol......you can read through most of them if your sight reading is good....
