For God, guns and ammo! Seriously, why doesn't our government just pass out handguns to everyone?

What's wrong with guns?  If guns are banned the criminals will still be able to buy guns from the black market.  Good people will not be able to defend themselves.

I urge you to look at some statistics from other devolped nation in the world, its pretty sobering. We far surpass every other nation in gun crimes per capita. This whole kind of "A armed socety is a polite society" mentality is absolute nonsense. If you saturate a socety with weapons- guns are designed to kill remind you, and kill lots of people, people that are deppresed, angry, frustrated and what not have easy acces to these guns.  Hell, anyone in this country can just walzt down to wal-mart and piclk up a rifle.

I know tons of people that own guns for self defense, there always jabbering away how no one is going to come into theire house and screw with them. I ask myself 'Why would anyone come into your house in the first place? What are the odds that somebody is going to attack you and you will need to defend your self.?' The bottom line is that people really dont need guns to defend themselves, they are just extremely paranoid about ficitonal events racing in the back of theire heads. If a country has over 100 million guns, I would say that there is something really really f****** wrong with it. This country of ours is sick and deeply troubled by paranoia.

I am not for banning guns. I just wish people wouldnt be so insane with the issue. I also wish we did have stricter sales laws. Its not the blackmarket that criminals get theire guns, they get theire guns from wally world.

Ah, gun control, the all-time favorite US vs. Other Countries issue...
Being from one of the Other Countries, frankly, I hardly care. What I do care about, however, is the fact that we're within range of the newest Shahabs. McCain for me, period.

I'm just glad that I live in one of the countries where I'm free to choose wether I want to own one or not, but it would be nice if we could keep them out of the hands of those who would use them to do harm.

I voted in the primary is what I meant...of course not the general election.  I don't like either candidate so I am indifferent to who wins.   Neither will do a thing, so what difference does it make.

As far as guns go, I like guns.  I've been shooting guns for recreation since I was in grammer school.  My father taught me how to load and unload a weapon and shoot.  I think everybody should learn how to defend themselves with a fire arm.  Especially woman, younger women, who are unfortunately raped and killed while on a jog or getting into their car at night in a parking garage.  This has happened recently near where I live 3 times in the past few months!   Its a shame, this could be prevented.  Of course there are cons as well to anything that provides benefit to the "good" citizens of a country.  Look at the internet- I can google the most horrific things imaginable and watch them with a click of the button, but you can't hold normal people accountable for the actions of the evil minority.  People who murder people, do so with the intent to kill, regardless of the weapon.  Now if it is an "accident," thats usually because of a poorly educated gun owner or because somebody left a loaded weapon in a cabinet for his 5 year old to discover and shoot himself in the head with.
Statistically speaking-criminals don't "buy" guns.  They steal them or get them off the black market.  99.9% of "registered gun owners" don't commit firearm felonies.  Unregistered yes, registered no.

What is the point of a gun if it's not to do harm? A bullet isn't exactly a small poke.

What about Australia?  What happened to its crime rates when gun restriction was initialized?

That's an article from 2000. The crime rate peaked in 2000 because of the rise of heroin use. Since 2000 the crime rate has fallen again.

Thanks for the update and the date check.  Appreciate it.  But where in that article did it tie to heroin use?

To tell you the truth, I don't like McCain that much but Obama scares me.  He will say anything to get elected.  I've heard too many things about him that make me believe that he is more loyal to his father's race and religion.

Here's some passages from his books:

From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'
From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'
From Dreams of My Father:  'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

And FINALLY the Most Damming one of ALL of them!!!

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

What on earth is all this about!?

Are you an islamophobic racist?

First of all Obama isn't a muslim, but would it be any problem if he was one?

Imaging anyone saying: I don't like this or that politician because he is Jewish! He would be called a racist, and rightly so.

Why do you think I'm racist?  Obama is the one who seems racist, being a member of Rev. Wright's church for 20 years.  If he loves his mother so much, why would he say the things that I mentioned above?  I just don't understand how an educated man like Obama could say things like that.

If he gets elected, I just hope I'm wrong about him.  I don't like McCain either, but he scares me less.
