Set of Prokofiev Visions Fugitives
on: July 18, 2008, 08:58:25 PM
I want to do 5 or 6 pieces from the set. I've decided to start with 1 and end with 14. But I'm not sure what to put in the middle. Among others, I like 4, 8, 10, and 18. Do you think this combination would work? If not, any other suggestions?
Thanks!

It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.
A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

dear kelly!
i think your set is great. btw, i must say that all combinations of those magnificent pieces seem to work. strange enough, the complete cycle have a great internal coherence.
the only thing i would prefer is to end with a calm one, maybe 18. i understand your desire to have a
grand finale
but think about prokofiev himself did choose a very quiet and slow end to the cycle (which ends
ppp
, btw).
anyhow, it's very nice to play and to listen to the visions. go for it!
best!
