Anyone play the piano lying down?
on: May 18, 2004, 02:16:13 AM
Ever see the movie Amadeus?  Where Mozart plays the piano while lying down and he's rockin those keys!  I thought that was so cool that I tried it, myself.  Man, I suck. :P

;D  First, the muscles that held my arms up while lying down were weak and I couldn't hold them up for long amounts of time.  Second, I couldn't see the keys so I had to pluck them out to find the right notes.  Third, since I was upside down, the right hand had to take the place of the left and vice versa.

Lastly, be careful getting up.  My forehead hurts.

How do you even reach the keys?? I tried, and I was grappling onto the instrument. [Don't worry-I gave up very soon.] I was able to reach the keys by staying in a sit-up position, but couldn't see them.

I think anyone who can play lying down is worthy of amazement.

My warning: Don't look straight up if you have track lighting with really bright bulbs..My eyes see pretty purple spots.
Support bacteria. They're the only type of culture some people have.

One of my friends can play the piano lying down. I didn't know Mozart did that in Amadeus. It's very, very impressive, though he complains that he misses a few keys every now and then...  :o

What's the point?  Do you really have to ask?

TO SHOW OFF! ;D  That's the point of everything we do.

That's cool! Is it comfortable to play like that? My gut feeling is that it gets tiring for the arms eventually.
