In regard to the last page (assuming that that's what you mean), just take it slow, one note at a time, and whatever you do don't try to rush it. As for two minutes before the end, that could mean different things depending on your tempo. Perhaps a little more specific?

If you are referring to when the hand does high-pitched notes at the top of the keyboard, then jumps to the bottom to do the three octave run up, just take it slow, hands alone.

No.
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

mmm, I always wonder why people with such great piano skills, even those with enough skill to pull off the Hungarian no 2, still call piano music SONGS! The last part isn't hard at all, compared to the rest of the piece. Quick run for the hills!!!

I think there may be some lesser English skills here so he/she maybe forgiven for the 'song'.  Unless it's a joke, then forget I said that.

you know, calling a piece a song just is what it is; those who socialize and have friends who are not, uhm, 'musicians'...generally refer to all types of music as 'songs' (for obvious reasons).  It doesn't make a g*ddamn difference.

Unfortunately, I have no advice for the last few pages of HR2.  I learned it when I was 12 or 13 but during that time didn't give a ____ about piano :-[

I think there's a spot with the theme in 6ths which annoyed me the most 8)

.... calling a piece a song just is what it is; .....  It doesn't make a g*ddamn difference.

It is quite important when we are talking music because the definition of a song is something that is meant to be sung by the voice. Unless you think a piano is like a voice, but that is a little strange. It isn't being picky, you better correct people sooner or later or they will keep looking ignorant. We are after all a piano forum where we should be talking music talk :).

I don't know many serious pianists who could consider playing HR2 calling piano pieces songs anyway. So id support theirrys suggestion that it is joke topic :).

Yes.  Part of being a musician is the ability to speak intelligently about music.  Musical terms have specific meanings and connotations.  Playing loose with terms only brings misunderstandings to other musicians and, of course, ridicule.

How would you feel if your doctor said he's going to "cut you open with a sharp knife and fix some stuff" instead of saying he's going to "perform a coronary artery bypass procedure to unclog your arteries"?  I'd trust the doctor who used the big fancy terms that I don't understand. ;D

But surely asking for help suggests this person is still a student.  Who would go get any serious surgery from anything less than a professional?

I'm just saying, if you get a kick out of 'correcting' people, don't do it in such a condescending way.  :D

I've always agreed with this analysis, yet it leads to a logical conundrum:
Mendelssohn's  "Lieder Ohne Worte" (Songs Without Words) written for the piano.

Maybe it's the "exception that proves the rule".

Language always evolves (or devolves sometimes); never static unless it dies and becomes a Dead Language like Latin. So it looks like "Songs" is what all musical pieces are  becoming thanks to "adding songs to your playlists"

Anyway I still cringe when I see or hear piano works referred to as songs.

HOw about if you went to the doctor and said that your stomach hurt?  He'd likely ask for clarification and eventually tell you that you have a malfunctioning pyloric sphincter.

Maybe it's the "exception that proves the rule".

It's just a title that aids in selling copies.  Songs Without Words sounds much better than Op.65 No.3.  The overarching title also helps in the interpretation so the listener can imagine what the "song" is singing about.

Song without Words .... Usually something that is sung has words, although I guess people can call ahhs and oohs singing with words, but you can still write those sounds with letter that create undefined words. Song without words often can be called a piece in my opinion ;) At least you can replicate it on an instrument, difficult to pronounce words on a piano eheh.
