Alkan Esquisses
on: August 22, 2008, 05:13:04 AM
I recently bought a recording of Alkan's Esquisses Op. 63 and I've fallen in love with them and would like to learn a few of these charming little pieces. I want to decide which one(s) I should play first and would like to know the opinion of anyone who has tried some/all of them. My favorites are La Poursuite, Rigaudon, Delire, Scherzettino, Les Diablotins, and Scherzetto. But Delire is, by far, the one that appeals to me most but after looking at the score ( at

) I believe the right hand will be no problem for me but I worry about the quarter notes in the left hand for the first page or so (half note=120). The left hand must make large leaps and this is something I have had little practice in. What do you guys think?
