Experiences of stopping with nicotine?
on: August 22, 2008, 09:03:31 PM
Do you have any? Has anyone here stopped smoking and experiened increased blood circulation? Any physical pain and tension you derived from useage of nicotine that went away or got better once you stopped?
Im trying to quit snus, https://www.swedish-snus.com/en/usd/snus/buy/snus-L/1/snus-L_general_loose. The amount of nicotine that gets in your system is higher then from smoking yet the doctors claim it to be harmless, but thatīs what they used to say about smoking... The research on snus is just not as vast.

Out of blue, one day, a year and half ago I quit cold turkey after smoking three pack a day for 27 years. Basically, whole my concious life I remember myself smoking. Last three years before quitting I was smoking pipe and cigars, but... inhaling. I can only imagine how my lungs must have looked like.

It is easy to quit, it is hard to hold. For half a year I was quite miserable. Next half a year was little better. Long walks (sometimes at 3-4am) were somewhat helping to supress cravings.
In these year and half I gained about 15-20 pounds.

Still, even now every ones in awhile I see myself smoking in the dreams. If you can do it--do it rather earlier than later.

Best, M

Giving up smoking is easy, it is giving up nicotine replacement treatments that is difficult.

Amen, brother.  But at least the nicotine replacement systems don't befoul your lungs with carciniogen compounds.  Nictotine by iteself is relatively harmless.

These nicotine lozenges are yummy, but now i am addicted to them.

I think food stores should produce nicotine flavoured food to help smokers.

You could eat nicostew followed by nice cream, with a nice drink of niffee to complete a great meal.

I think i could be onto a money spinner here, i am gonna file a patent.

My experiences with quitting smoking is that it turned my coworker into a whiney pregnant dog for a few months (until he caved and started back up again).  So maybe make sure people know you're trying to quit to help them understand if you get irritable ;D

I used to take snus for a while, years ago, to stop smoking. It's quite heavy, I think they put little glass pieces in it that cut your mucosa :P

Did a little looking around the internet after reading your statement about "harmless".

here's one thing i found :
"In case you are wondering, one smoked cigarette butt potentially has enough nicotine in it to kill a child of the eating random things stage. An average human adult would probably die from eating two to three whole cigarettes, as the amount of nicotine in an unsmoked cigarette is about 300 times as much as you get from smoking it. A cigarette butt will also make an adult human (non-smoker) quite sick, so do not be tempted to eat one under any circumstance." :-X

Maybe Not so Harmless... I'll stick to red meat & fried pork rinds :D
