Can I still get Paderewski editions of Chopin?
on: May 23, 2004, 08:01:05 AM
My teacher is lending me his copy of Chopin's Polonaises, published by Paderewski, and I'm totally loving the copy, and then I read here that it's the best edition for Chopin.

However, it was published quite a while ago and he's not even alive anymore, so I'm wondering if I could get any brand new editions? I checked on some Polish website and I can order them, but I'm not too keen on ordering from the internet. Would I be able to go to a store and order them, or is hope lost?

There are two Paderewski editions, an older and a newer one. They are both fine. The newer one is easily available. Dover reprinted - at a much lower cost - the older editions.
I prefer the Wiener Urtext editions edited by Badura Skoda, Ekier, etc.

I'm referring to the editions like this:

https://www.pwm.com.pl/index.php?Name=SalesResult&Lng=2&Cid=250&Pid=558

Is that the old or new version?

Mosis,
Like everything else, the newer editions are in print, and the older editions are out of print.
If you are buying it new, then you are buying the most recent edition.
The link you posted is to the newer edition.
