How should I play this?
on: September 21, 2008, 04:51:16 AM
I'm having trouble finding a suitable fingering for this bars... I don't think the hand has enough fingers to play this the way I think I'm supposed to. And it's not a piece that complicated, it's Bach's prelude in D. Suggestions are welcome.

Since there are many preludes in D, I don't know how fast it's supposed to go. But I'm pretty sure that you have to change finger on one tone, and I think it is on the G, from 3rd finger to 5th finger

This is how I think I would do it, with a smaller hand - just reading, I haven't tried playing the segment though:

Use 1 and 2 at beginning of bar.
Put 4 on the A, 5 on B, 4-3-2, then contract hand position so
4 is on the first E, then 3 on the second E
2 on D# then move 1 from C to B
3 and 4 at the end of the second bar, but this would depend what came next.

Another option: start the 16th with 3-4-5.
