You guys still have it bad.  We go by gallons over here, I'm assuming you (and the rest of the world) go by liters.  So since 3.79 liters = 1 gallon, you're paying $5.65 AUD per gallon.  Ouch.

And I guess that would mean we're paying $0.95 USD per liter over here (3.60/3.79 = 0.95).

All of this talk about US gallon vs imperial gallon vs liter and currency conversion = a very big headache. 

And the price, well that's just a migraine thinking about that no matter where you live.  I can't believe it costs $54 to fill up my mid-size vehicle (15 gal tank), while it costs $81 to fill up my husband's.  It was much more when we had the truck though, I'm glad we got rid of that thing.

Even though I hate the cold, this year I might start riding my bike in the winter.  Time to grow thicker skin.

I broke the $300 mark once, on this huge Audi my brother brought home. That lasted about 400 miles.

I now cycle anywhere within 20 mile radius. After 6 months of doing this, i am 4 stone lighter and a fair bit richer.

Wow.  And i thought the time the bill was $50. for my honda odessey for one tank of gas was bad.  Perhaps i can't convert marks in my head.  Not sure what that would be in dollars or pounds.

Personally, I have never been paid in gallons per hour.

For what it's worth, the price of petrol (gas) here in London at present converts to US$7.50 per (US) gallon, near enough. A few weeks ago it was over $8. So what? We all travel far too much as it is. Don't get me wrong, I quite like bumming around the place but it is daft really, me driving 250 miles each way to do a gig in Liverpool when I'm quite sure some pianist from Manchester (more like 45 miles each way) could do it just as well - but the promoter booked me and the fee was good enough to make it worth while, petrol or no petrol.

I hear you Europeans don't drive gas guzzlers like the Americans do.

The car's mpg has to factor into the price of gas also. I get 35 miles per gallon with my Chevy Cavalier. A friend of mine gets 18 mpg with his SUV.

Ouch, filling that tank would pay my groceries for a month, plus some beer money.

If I didn't have to haul around tools for my work, I could get away with biking most of the time.  I used to love riding my bike everywhere, I always had so much energy from it!

When I go to school next year I could probably manage to park the van most of the time.
