phew! I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I started this but I couldn't leave it. It was an addiction! I've been sick for the last few days, this is how I spent some of my free time lying in bed coughing all day. Angry btw feel free to post to me any re-organization of the list, I wasn't bothered to group all the pieces in chronological order of composition.... yet....

Apologies for leaving out anyone who posted external links to their music, links go down and it's not good to have dead links in the index. Youtube postings also have not been included in the index since you can simply search for those on the youtube site itself.

Please message me if you find any missed recordings or any errors. thanks!

Thanks for your appreciation! I've been hanging around pianostreet since 2004 when it was still called pianoforum. When Audition room was put up I always though, can't wait till someone makes an index of all the pieces. Derek did a great job doing the Improvisations, but the other stuff had to be ordered too. When no one ended up doing it I though this week while I was sick in bed, well I might as well do it. This was the least I could do for everyone who at least took some time to post recordings!

Oh I hope you get better Sad The flu is horrible, I usually do a lot of music work every day I find it very difficult to focus, also loss of income from not being able to work is not good either. Doing this list took my mind off my flu for a while so hopefully exploring it will do the same for you Smiley

Wow, amazing work!  This must have taken some time to do.
It took longer than I though, probably around 15+ hours over 3 days. The most annoying step was transferring everything into pianostreet so it would fit on the page. I had to delete a lot of spaces and tabs urg. I was going to make it so you only had to click on the title of the pieces to go to the webpage but that was taking me too much time so I abandoned it. Now that it is all done however keeping it updated it will be easier.. Unless someone posts 500 recordings. urg.

furtwaengler thanks for pointing out the Brahms, I've added it in. I don't know how he evaded my cut paste! I am surprised I didn't find any Czerny!

By the way I was thinking perhaps it would be good to make another list, of exceptional recordings? Because mixed through the list are extremely professional recordings to beginners attempts. I don't know how to go about doing that though, I certainly don't have time to listen to 1,500+ pieces! Perhaps people can suggest which ones should be added to a "recording honors list".

An option would also be to have the index at an external site with better editing capabilities. For example, you can create a publicly readable document with Google Documents (docs.google.com) and then link to that doc from here (you can even grant write permission to other people for a document which is sometimes neat). Just an idea.

Sticky!

A forum index solution and ratings of topics/recordings are things we are developing and will add to the forum later this year so there is no need to worry too much about that right now.

Thanks for the great effort!

Should look more compact now. You can click on the title to go to the page instead of the untidy looking link address (thanks to iheartpiano for the code to do that). Used find/replace and a macro to do it for me, was pretty easy!

Thank you, awesome work! Grin

Correction:
You listed Louie's pieces under myself as composer.  She wrote these pieces so it would probably be better to list them under her own name.

The OTHER section (last part of the index) doesn't specify that the pieces listed are composed by the poster. It is a mixture of that and misc composers, it's a bit disorganized i know Sad

I think some of my recordings like the Chopin Winterwind need to be removed from this index because they are no longer available.

Best,

Recordings have been ordered a little better now. Single posts haven't been ordered however (I did do the Bach section just to get an idea of what I wanted to do), I'll update the rest when I get time. Enjoy.

I just want to add my thanks for the wonderful work done by lostinidlewonder in creating, enhancing and maintaining this comprehensive Index of all our recordings here on Piano Street.  It was an enormous task to pull it all together, but it has saved many of us a lot of time in quickly locating particular music files and, more generally, composers and pieces that we wish to hear.  It certainly adds to the enjoyment of having Piano Street as a resource for pianists and piano repertoire.  Thanks, lostinidlewonder, for a truly magnificent effort that serves the membership so well! What a lot of work in compiling all these pieces - thank you.

I'm sorry to even feel compelled to make this suggestion, but I feel it would be an even better list if the pieces were listed not by the pianist who submitted them, but by the title of the piece itself (I know that could mean reorganising the list).

For example, all the Chopin Scherzi gathered together and ordered with the pianists name after it.
Scherzo Nr. 1 - Pianist A
Scherzo Nr. 1 - Pianist B
Scherzo Nr. 1 - Pianist C
Scherzo Nr. 2 - etc...

It would make it easier to compare different performances of the same work if they were all grouped together.

Regardless, it's a wonderful achievement to have pulled all this together. Thanks,
Ian
