pedaling the Prokofiev Prelude Op 12 No 7

Should one follow the pedal marks exactly as marked in Prokofiev's "Prelude Op 12 No 7"?  (I wish I could name the edition I have; it is one that I purchased from www.everynote.com.  If you know of a better one, I would be happy to compare it and purchase it.)
