Easy Chopin pieces?
on: October 30, 2008, 05:02:36 PM
Hey Guys! ;)

I'm New(ish) to this forum, and quite new to the piano, I have been teaching myself for 8 months and have had a total of 2 lessons so far! ;D

Is there any easy Chopin pieces I could give ago? that you would recomend for a beginner? I can play most of Moonlight 1st mvnt and am learning Bach's Prelude 1 in C major. I would really appreciate it if you could maybe add a link to the piece so I can print it off a free sheet music site, if you know of one. I can't seem to find easy Chopin stuff on the web that is free to print off :-[

Thanks :)

This is a very common topic and if you use the search function you should be able to get all the answers,

I don't play Chopin but I do know that some of the preludes and Mazurkas should be in your grasp

I don't know which opus number but if you look in the sheet music part of the forum it should give you the approximate grade

Hey,

As far as "Easy Chopin" goes, there's the Cantabile in B flat major...having a look at the music it does seem fairly easy (haven't played it myself though). Also, have a look at the Prelude in E minor, op 28 no.4. I'd say those are about as easy as Chopin gets.

Also, the Prelude in B minor (op 28 no 6) is quite beautiful (I prefer it to the more popular E minor prelude), and not too difficult. There's a Mazurka in A minor (Op 17 no 4) that I learnt a few months back, but that will probably be a big challenge (It was, and still is for me!)

Good going though with those pieces, I haven't been playing that long (less than 2 yrs), but I also learnt Moonlight around the 8 month mark, and Prelude in C a while before that. If you did Moonlight, the preludes shouldn't be problematic technically, but expression-wise, might be tough, but then again expression-wise Moonlight is also tough...good luck!

Hey, Cheers you guys! :)

I just had a listen to those preludes you metioned arumih, I might just be able to do them at some point in the near future, they don't sound too difficult. Wow, you can play that Mazurka in A minor Op 17 no 4 !? I heard it, and it sounded hard; hope I manage to get to that level after 2 years! ;)

Looks like I will need to buy a set of his preludes and work through the easy ones, as I can't find the easy ones to print off, oh well.

Thanks!

Erm... there's a few Nocturnes that are easier than most of the preludes.  I'd say look only at his A major, E minor, B minor and C minor... the other's are much more difficult.

His mazurkas are amazing... I see I'm regurgitating what people have already said.  8)

mmmmmm...I think his nocturnes are too hard for me at these early stages, I would definitely like to give them a go at some point; and of course his other works like mazurkas and waltz  8).

The only prelude I can give ago at the moment is the E minor No 4. I started having a go at it yesterday, it a really lovely piece.

Hey Nanabush, I like your signature about snozberries, so funny! ;D I like the old Willy Wonker flim too.
