Stupid things about works for the left hand

The thing that really frustrates ( ) me is that every left hand work I have come across is scored on two staves that can only possibly be played with two hands what!!!
Am I doing somthing wrong? for example - one of scriabins preludes (op.9 no.1 I think) can only be played with two hands yet it says it is for the left hand. Some one help me to clarify this mess.

It IS for the left hand, ALONE! I can play the prelude with my left hand just fine. If you play it with both hands, it feels awkward.
Sometimes, not all left hand works are scored in one staff. An example is Brahms' arrangement of J.S. Bach's famous Chaconne for the left hand.
