I see three of them online now.  I thought that was done away with.

There are still hidden members, yes. The option was removed some time ago, so those that chose hidden a while ago will be hidden forever.

I don't think so.  I chose to be hidden a long time ago.  I think around a year ago I started showing up in the active user list.
