Can someone explain the alpha letters on a Steinway?

Mini grands
--------------
S - Small @ 5'1"
M - Medium @ 5'7"
L -Large @ 5'10.5" (also model 'O' from Hamburg)
Conservatory/Concert grands
-----------------------------------
A - Conservatory grand @ about 6' (only from Hamburg now)
B - Conservatory grand @ about 7'
C - Semi concert grand @ 7'5" (only from Hamburg now)
D - Full concert grand @ 9'
