Chopin Nocturne in e minor
on: November 26, 2008, 05:48:00 PM
I'm studying chopin's nocturne in e minor. In the second part there are some plyrythms...4-3 ,then 8-3 ,then 10-3 ,then 11-3. Apart from HS practice how should it be practiced? Before the 11-3 sequence there is a trill...how to execute?

well, I just looked at it, and the only thing I can think of is just practice it very slowly using as careful timing as you can. You'll get used to the strange timing eventually.

Sorry for keep you waiting. General rule for practing this piece is practice slow counting on your left hand - one end two end three etc- e.i one is for mi two is si and three is for sol. The word end helps to cordinate your right hand.
Now for the 3 4  you play mi together  si then goes mi+si do# (do) si (si) mi. Practice ornanents in  any case at the end, when you are safe with hand together.
3 8 sol together with me and then ...la# (si) sol......do# (la#) la# mi
3 10 mi la# together ....si (do#).....mi (fa) fa.....
3 11 fa si# toghether .....mi (fa) fa#.....sol (fa) sol#....
With the exception of the 3 4 as far as the rest are concerned the idea is where you can not devide by three you increase tha value either of the last or the first note in this 8, 10, 11 groups. With the trill I can not help you yet because she told me to practice without any trill or mordant first. So as a general rule keep ornaments for the end.
I hope you find these info useful ;)
